What to Pack

You can expect about 70% humidity in the spring, with showers likely to occur now and then in May and June. If you’re planning a trip to Bucharest, pack a light jacket for the earlier months, and possibly for the nighttime in May. It’s a good idea to bring a small umbrella and good walking shoes that can stand getting wet in spring showers.

Summer

The weather in Bucharest in the summer is quite hot and sunny, so prepare yourself and your suitcase for the heat. The average low in June is 14° and the high is 28°. July is the hottest month of the year in Bucharest, with the low around 16° and the high about 30°. August is about the same, with the average low being 15° and the high 30°. Even if you enjoy summer weather, the heat can be a bit intense, especially during the midday hours.

The weather in Bucharest starts to cool down again in the fall months, September through November. September has beautiful weather; the average low is 11° and the high is 25°. October is a bit cooler, the average low around 6° and the high at 18°. November can get to be quite cold as winter sets in. The low is 1° and the daytime high is 10°. Humidity in the fall can range from 70-90% depending on the month.

What to Pack

If you choose to visit Bucharest in the early fall, you’ll find that the weather is just right for getting out and exploring all that the city has to offer. The mild temperatures ensure that you can comfortably walk around, ride bikes, or do any other outdoor activity without worrying about being too hot or cold. In the early fall, you’ll want to pack as you would for summer. From November on, you would have a warm jacket, scarf, and winter attire to ensure that you stay warm, especially at night.

Winter

Winter in Romania is quite cold and humid, so prepare yourself for low temperatures and snow. If you’re looking to get away to a winter wonderland for your holidays, Bucharest is just the place! December temperatures drop down to -3 and climb up to 4° in the daytime. January is the coldest month of the year, the average low being -4° and the high 3°. February is still chilly, the low around -3° and the high crawling up to 6°. The humidity is around 90% in the winter, and it is quite possible that there will be snow on the ground during your visit.

What to Pack

Prepare yourself well for the winter weather, especially if you plan on walking around and being outside for long stretches of time. A winter jacket, scarf, gloves, and hat are essential, and boots are recommended in case there is snow.
